EPIC NOTE, PEOPLE: Voting will end on November 30rd at 11:59 PeeEm. You can only vote once per day. The winner with the topest votes. Will be announced. VeeAh FB update of Epic Proportions. On my FB. On December 1rd.

  1. Javier Zenteno Says:

Love your animals! Proud to be part of Barrio Dogs.

  2. Holly Sellers Says:

Barrio Dogs is doing great things in Houston, Texas!! They deserve my vote and everyone else’s.

  3. Linda Hunt Says:

This group understands that only through s/n will overpopulation reverse itself.

  4. Leena Anneli Peltoniemi Says:

Barrio Dogs makes a major difference through education, which is the key to preventing dogs being dumped. No one else does what Gloria and Barrio Dogs does; loving and saving the most forgotten, the hard to place. They are my heroes!

  5. Brenda Yohman Frick Says:

If Jo Burchfield lady says they are a good vote…then that’s good enough for me!

  6. Brenda Gubrynowicz Says:

I support Barrio Dogs and all their efforts and hard work, they are truly compassionate and caring,I hope they win!

  7. Susan Nickerson Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition does GREAT work. No one else in the area is doing community outreach, animal by animal fundraising for spay/neuter, education about animal overpopulation showing how it starts with just two, but with five year results in the thousands – and the associated risks with remaining intact (cancers, reproductive disease, etc.) I am thrilled at the opportunity to support Spay/Neuter Coalition, they will put this money to terrific uses!

  8. Wendy Harwood Says:

Barrio Dogs is a GREAT rescue organiztion!! Thank you for choosing them as one of your top three!! They SO deserve to win!!

    Wendy Harwood

  9. Jo Burchfield Says:

Spay/Neuter is the only way to prevent for homeless animals to have more homeless babies. No kitten or puppy should be born only to die.

  10. Suzie Harwood Says:

Barrio Dogs is wonderful!! Hope they win!!

  11. Janice Urbsaitis Says:

Pro-Bone-O is doing great work in an area that receives little support.

  12. Sharon Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition is a wonderful group. They have helped MANY people spay/neuter their animals as well as to provide education on the benefits of spay/neuter. I am with Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue and we highly support this group. There are way too many homeless animals out there due to so many unaltered animals. We see it all the time in rescue. It will never stop until we get these animals altered. If only people would realize it is healthier for their animals to be spay/neutered. It is a proven fact females have a less chance of developing breast cancer and males testicular cancer.

  13. jeannie peterson Says:

Pro-Bone-O has been in existence since ’98, providing free veterinary care for pets of people who are homeless. We also provide pet food and supplies. We have 2 clinics per month and give out 12 – 15 free spay/neuter vouchers per clinic. We are an all volunteer organization. Our clients love us!!

  14. Anke Arnold Says:

All three sound like wonderful organizations. Barrio Dogs will get my vote, though. They do so much for our local stray population and education!

  15. Leigh Anne Says:

The Spay/Neuter Coalition is an amazing group. Through education and fundraising to help low income areas with spaying and neutering, they are the solution. It’s very easy to blame the animal control facilities, but the truth is, the animal control facilities would not be overrun with perfectly healthy animals being euthanized if people did the right thing. The Spay/Neuter Coalition makes it possible for everyone to do the right thing.

  16. Sabrina Says:

Spay/Neuter is working to end overpopulation, the very root of the problem. They are very nice and supportive not critical which goes a long way when convincing people in rural areas that sterilization is the best thing for their pets. Proud to support them any way I can!

  17. Sharon Collette Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition is saving animals in GA and believe me Georgia needs them they are making a huge difference in the lives of many animals without them so many more animals would be put to sleep here .

  18. Mary Says:

They also have a program that educates children on learning responsible ownership, Barrio Dogs Youth and Paws. They go around to low income schools and read some educational books, that are also for sale! It all starts with educating our children…and that’s just what they are doing. Yeh for Barrio Dogs!!!

  19. Deanna Mather Larson Says:

Please vote for Pro-Bone-O. We serve pets of people who are homeless. Because we help the four-leggeds with medications, vaccines, food, etc. we also help their owners who love their pets so much and hate to seen them suffer. Yesterday was another great clinic and this time we also gave away dozens of lovely, hand crocheted sweaters!! You should have seen Diva, a lovely great Dane with her red and white sweater. She was strutting!

  20. Beth Says:

Many thanks go to the Spay/Neuter Coalition for the remarkable outreach and education program they provide in our state! There are so many worthy organizations whose mission truly makes a difference. Thanks to ALL who work tirelessly to get the message of spay/neuter/adopt out there! Fingers and Paws crossed for SNC!

  21. Jamie Sprague/Doggie Harmony Says:

The southern U.S. — particularly larger states like Georgia — is tragically over-populated with pets and significantly under-educated on why it’s important to spay and neuter. Spay/Neuter Coalition is instrumental in part two of that equation and this funding would help them reach the many many rural areas of Georgia that desperately need spay/neuter so their county shelters (where they exist) do not have to euthanize animals as often as weekly. Go Spay/Neuter Coalition — we love you!

  22. Julie Shimkus Says:

This is the greatest program that Lesha Martin has started. Spay/neuter is needed all over but people here in the south REALLY need an education on the importance of SPAY/NEUTER. Can’t wait till this becomes NATIONAL must.

  23. Victoria Says:

Pro-bne-O is making a real diffrence in the liVs of the pets of people who are homeless in Lane County, Oregon.Pro-Bone-O recognizes and honours the relationship between people and their companion animal…for some of our clients their relationship with their pet is the only loving relationship in their lives! We provide basic medical care [vaccines, flea, worm and ear medication], FREE spay/neuter vouchers, and emergency or more intensive care as we can afford. VOTE FOR US!!!

  24. Ashley G. Says:

Vote for Spay/Neuter Coalition. They do great work!

  25. Rilla Askew Says:

Barrio Dogs works in an area of Houston in which dogs are often abandoned, treated cruelly, or neglected to the point of near death. But this small, young organization is leaping into the struggle for animal welfare and taking on the toughest, cruelest cases. They have taken on extraordinary cases of cruelty and neglect, nursed these dogs back to health, and found them homes. At the same time, their real emphasis educating the community about how to keep and care for pets. To see such a tiny organization formed just over 18 months ago up for this prize is truly inspiring. And they do deserve both the honor and the financial support.

  26. Marnie Says:

Pro-Bone-O is an amazing organization providing services for people and their pets that otherwise would have to go unattended to. We love Pro-Bone-O’s miracle work in Lane County. Vote for Pro-Bone-O and the wonderful work they do!

  27. Karen Says:

Voted for Spay/Neuter Coalition. Just adopted a dog when others were on their last day of life.Save these dogs. It should be a law?

  28. Julie Shimkus Says:

    Vote #2 -

  29. Robin Says:

Barrio Dogs is doing some amazing work here in Houston!

  30. Marnie Says:

Pro-Bone-O is a wondeerful non-profit! They get my vote today!

  31. John Lewallen Says:

Barrio Dogs has my vote. I adopted Haggerman from them. He was used as a bait dog to train fighting dogs & was found with a heavy tow chain cutting thru his neck & numerous bites. Barrio Dogs fixed him up. He is now sleeping safe at my feet. Barrio Dogs goes into the poorest neighborhoods to teach kids how to care for dogs. No other animal welfare group does this. Please help them stop the abuse.

  32. laura Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition is amazing! Lesha works so hard to educate and inform people of the importance of spay and neuter. She does community outreach and education and I’ve seen her constantly transport a car full of dogs and cats from low income areas to ensure that they get spayed and neutered. She is very passionate about the s/n cause and always goes above and beyond.

  33. Morgan Says:

Only by aggressive spay/neuter actions will we solve the animal overpopulation problem. Spay/Neuter Coalition is doing astounding work in this regard.

  34. Christine Says:

Can you run for President of the USA? I vote for you and I am sure all animals in need would get help!
I believe all these organizations are great causes and help a lot of needy animals. Mayhaps a suggestion: How about the winner of this contest gets 50%, and the winners-up get 25% each, that way Santa will visit a lot of animals!

  35. Christine Says:

Oh, and mayhaps one more suggestion? This one is regarding your snazzy website about the contest. How about the comments show in order of newest to oldest? that way we get to see the new stuff without having to scroll to the bottom?????

  36. BoneYardDog Says:

All three entries deserve to win, they all do great work from what I can see.

Please make a donation to all three as well as voting for your favorite to win.

I have 3 pups and would be devastated to lose any of the three or to see them treated like some of these animals are.

Great work and great contest to help educate all.

  37. Bugles Van Buttsniffer Says:

i sniffed some butts at Barrio Dogs

  38. Susan Nickerson Says:

Let’s do it, Spay/Neuter Coalition fans! You know how many animals they have helped, and how many more are out there, desperately needing attention! Every dime will be well used, and quickly =- there is list of areas needing assistance!

  39. Ed Gonzales Says:

These guys do a great job in our Barrio, Please help by supporting them….. Keep up the good work!!!

  40. Angie Says:

Please vote for Spay/Neuter Coalition. The work they do is amazing and the team is truly committed to helping control our pet overpopulation in GA.

  41. Bill Clay Says:

It is not enough to just outlaw the gas chambers. Too many animals are still, and will continue to be put down. Spay and Neuter is the beginning of the end for this cruel solution to our problem. Help be the crux of the end of this barbaric end for our pets. SPAY AND NEUTER ROCKS!

  42. Sue Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition helps alleviate unwanted animals!

  43. KJL Says:

I support Spay Neuter Coalition because from my own experience in helping rescue animals the root of the overpopulation and lack of homes for all these pets is the fact people still allow them to have puppies and kittens which grow up to be unwanted and unhomed pets. We can stop the sadness of over stuffed animal controls and euthanizations by working towards a spay and neuter solution. Not everyone will do their part but if I can support them through this contest I surely will. Hope they win!

  44. Jamie Cupps Says:

What a true blessing that Barrio Dogs have been to some really deserving dogs!! This organization is a big help to the community in Houston, Texas and they are educating and helping families understand what it is to be a responsible pet owner! Congratulations to Gloria and Barrio Dogs for this amazing opportunity!!!

  45. Samantha Claar Says:

S&N Coalition gets my vote because they help not only individuals but other animal rescue groups as well. There actually are no undeserving contestants in this line-up.. just split the money 3 ways and say Bless You ALL..

  46. Susan Nickerson Says:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Spay/Neuter Coalition and the terrific community services it provides – Please vote and vote often – every day, every vote counts!

  47. beth carter Says:

spaying and neutering is important please do this to your pet so we can decrease all the homeless unwanted cats and dogs please

  48. Elyssa Says:

Go barrio dogs! They are doing greaaaat things!! :D

  49. carmen gelinas Says:

pro-bone-o I believe does the most with free vet care and info for homeless individuals and their pets

  50. carmen gelinas Says:

in addition , all of the 3 organizations are great

  51. Tracey Stephens Says:

YAY! SPAY/NEUTER Co. GA – These people are doing good things for us here in North GA. We have a severe overpopulation problem, especially here in Rome, GA. They help provide clinics to us up here because there are no other resources. PLEASE, PLEASE – these guys need to WIN!!!!!!!!!!!! WE NEED HELP IN NORTH GA!

  52. Jeannie Peterson Says:

Apparently our website has been down for a while. I believe it is now fixed. Please visit us there. And VOTE for us!!

  53. 610 Pet lodge Says:

Barrio Dogs is sure becoming a name around Houston for all the work they are doing in the community. Education is a key influence in teaching people how to take care of thier dogs.
Way to go Barrio Dogs and Gloria for all the work you are doing. We love you guys!!!!

  54. Jillian Says:

The Spay/Neuter Coalition in Georgia is doing great things! We have a severe pet overpopulation here in Georgia, and the SNC is going into the areas with the greatest need and making a big difference. They have a long waiting list of pet parents who need help, and this Christmas gift could get their pets fixed! Please support the Spay/Neuter Coalition :)

  55. Connie B Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition works their “TAILS” off trying to help the people and animals of GA! They know the need is great here and could really use the support. GO SNC!!!

  56. Ben Pitt Says:

some people don’t realize that animals have broken hearts and hunger pangs just like people.

  57. Tracey Stephens Says:

    SPAY/NEUTER COALITION ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!

  58. linda lopez Says:

i was looking for somthing a little closer to home(orange, texas) when i found your page. what wonderful things you do. i am an animal rights activist and would love to see y’all win this. i plan on coming to see you real soon!

  59. Meike Says:

All dogs deserve help. Spay/Neuter is so special in that they go right to where it matters most: They help to avoid that vicious cycle!!!

  60. Anne Podber Says:

It is such a simple thing to do!

  61. Studs N Dudes Says:

ools – jimmy say he want to veto for ballio dog for teh contest

  62. sc Says:

spaying/neutering is the most important thing you can do right now…please vote for spay/neuter coalition

  63. Yolanda Casiano Says:

Barrio dogs keep up the great work u deserve to win you guy’s rock!!!

  64. April Says:

Spay Neuter Coalition provides affordable spay/neuter for petowners. Prevention is the solution to over population.

  65. Marilyn Guy/McCoy Says:

If, more animals were spayed/neutered, I wouldn’t need to supply food for the 10 cats and kittens in our trailer park…I know they are all feral cats because, none of them except two will me to even get close to them….So…Spay/Neuter you guys are really special and I hope you win on this…

  66. Sherri Evans Says:

All rescue groups are great and yes education is important…..but you have to get right to the issue that Spay/neuter is the answer to reduce the dumped dogs/cats that end up needing help. It is so important to get that education out and to raise funds to help people get it done. So my vote goes to Spay/Neuter Coalition. Spay/Neuter is the only chance to make gains in helping all animals/rescues over all

  67. Trish Says:

For those who are not familiar with Barrio Dogs, please visit their website to learn more. What started out as a mission to rescue the unwanted, voiceless souls on the streets of Houston, has become a never ending battle to educate high poverty areas of town on the better care and treatment of our furry friends. Barrio Dogs has built fences, spayed/neutered and vaccinated animals for those residents who may not have otherwise been able to afford it. Barrio Dogs has a watch team that reports animal abuse, chained animals with no shelter, food or water, in hopes of getting them a better life. THANK YOU to all three of these groups who have been chosen for all of your efforts in helping the voiceless! Happy Holidays!

  68. kathryn t steury Says:

i KNOW how hard you guys work. good luck!

  69. Duke Says:

spaying/neutering is inhumane (incanine?), cruel and clearly has an emotional effect on the dogs. i understand their mission, just think there are better ways to help control the reproduction of dogs. good luck, but i had to give my vote to Barrio

  70. andrea davinci braun Says:

The only reason I would pick one good organization over another is the proximity to me, and what I know to be needed here in the Atlanta area.

  71. breezy forti Says:

Gooooooooo spay/neuter coalition they r amazing people and have personally helped me out a lot! Please vote for them thank u!

  72. Sue Smith Says:

    Spay/Neuter are absolutely wonderful.

  73. breezy forti Says:

Yes sue they really r :-)

  74. Pennies-4-Paws Inc. Says:

We have been very happy raising funds for the Spay/Neuter Coalition. We know that our donations save lives. I encourage you to help with your vote. Think of the number of lives that could be saved by doing so.

  75. Melissa Says:

Please vote for spay and neuter from Woodstock ga this is an amazing organization that saves lives daily!

  76. Kim Says:

Spay and neuter coalition is doing wonderful awareness work and promotes adoption through shelters and strongly opposes puppy mills, while giving help and advocacy for spaying and neutering available to low income situations. This organization busts their rear to do everything they can to help animals, and I live in south Carolina, an entire different state, and have joined their site as a fan, promoter of their work, and they touched my heart after seeing a friend who lives in their state of Georgia post about them and all their hard work last year, and since then, I’ve shared them and their cause with so many. They truly need this help so much. Thank you.

  77. breezy forti Says:

What duke!?!?!?!?! R u serious how is that inhumane? That’s crazy someone would think that i think all dogs and cats need ti be fixed but there’s ppl out here that r so nieve that it will never happen my aunt rescued 47 puppies from one house cause they didn’t wanna get their dogs fixed that’s pretty sad considering other ppl have to deal with someone else’s mess ups

  78. Kristy Says:

SNC has helped so many people in GA and can help so many more with additional money. This state is in the dark ages when it comes to education of why fixing pets is SO important…We can not allow unwanted animals to be born only to have to kill them! SPAY/NEUTER IS THE ANSWER!

SPAY/NEUTER COALITION IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR GA!!!

  79. Dee Says:

Duke obviously has never walked the aisles of a local animal control that is jam packed with homeless animals. He also hasn’t bothered to learn that spaying/neutering is beneficial to animals in many ways. This type of ignorance is the real problem. Keep up the great work Lesha and Spay/Neuter Coalition.

  80. sue mcginty Says:

    Good luck to all!

  81. Miranda Says:

If more people would spay/neuter their pets there would be a lot less dogs and cats just dumped on the side of the road. Sorry but my vote is for Spay/Neuter. Think about that Duke!

  82. Sheree Says:

SPAY/NEUTER COALITION IS ALL GA HAS TO HELP COMBAT THE EXTREME OVER POPULATION OF ANIMALS IN THE SOUTH!

  83. Linda G. Says:

Didn’t know about the program in GA. and it’s right at my back door!!! BUT Ga. you get my vote because I see animals on the roads daily!! It is a shame!!!

  84. Chrissy Says:

Spay & Neuter coallition works hard through community outreach to spay/neuter animals in communities that may not otherwise be reached. They are assisting in reducing the overwhelming pet overpopulation issue by getting to the source of the problem.

  85. Keisha Says:

Good ones, all of them. :)

  86. Allison Says:

Anyone who wins this, there are animals that win!

  87. L.S. Says:

I am proud to be a supporter of the great work being done by Spay/Neuter Coalition.

  88. Rebecca Ventouris Says:

Spay and Neuter Coalition has the answer to our pet overpopulation. They are doing this work at low cost or no cost. Please vote for them!

  89. Jillian Says:

Wow, “Duke”…if you think s/n is more inhumane than thousands of animals being killed because no one wants them, or an animal dying of pyometra (an infection of the uterus where it fills with pus), testicular cancer, breast cancer…you are TOTALLY out of touch with reality. Oh yeah, Barrio Dogs spays and neuters their animals too, AS THEY SHOULD. All are worthy groups. “Duke”, do the world a favor and get a vasectomy.

  90. carmen gelinas Says:

helping individuals with pets that cant afford vet care is such a great cause, Often this happens because of the current economy and the owners need help

  91. Amanda Says:

The Spay/Neuter Coalition does GREAT work on so many levels. They educate, facilitate low cost S/N for the Atlanta Metro community and so much more….This organization is greatly deserving of any support that the public can give. I work with a Rescue and Adoption Group and we highly endorse Lesha Martin and the Spay/Neuter Coalition for the great work that they do!! Please vote…

  92. lee Says:

    Spay/Neuter are absolutely wonderful!!
    i agree ‘breezy forti’ Says

  93. Bill Says:

Vote for Spay/Neuter Coalition. They do great work!

  95. Alisa Says:

Voted for the Spay/Neuter Coalition! They offer low cost spay/neuter and educate the public!

  96. Spitfire Says:

    Vote for Spay/Neuter Coalition!

  97. Cram Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition is a wonderful group. They have helped MANY people spay/neuter their animals as well as to provide education on the benefits of spay/neuter. I am with Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue and we highly support this group. There are way too many homeless animals out there due to so many unaltered animals. We see it all the time in rescue. It will never stop until we get these animals altered. If only people would realize it is healthier for their animals to be spay/neutered. It is a proven fact females have a less chance of developing breast cancer and males testicular cancer.

  98. Melanie Says:

Spay/Neuter is a great place to get to the heart of the matter! So many animals die because there are just too many to save!!!

  99. Rhonda Rogers Says:

“The first step to no-kill is no-birth.” http://www.AnimalKind.org

  100. tamara meier Says:

They ALL deserve all the help they can get, but I cast my vote for Spay & Neuter Coalition. Their co-operative approach with other organizations is great, and we still have such a great need here in GA for pet population control.

  101. Kathy Bonton Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition is lagging behind. C’mon Georgians this organization can help keep the unwanted puppies and kittens from being born in the first place. But they always need money. The more money, the more animals they can take care of at the lowest prices.

  102. Jeanne Southern Says:

SpayNeuter Coalition is a great group. There are many people who cannot afford to spay and neuter their pets. SNC is making a tremendous difference in Georgia!!

  103. Jeanne Southern Says:

SpayNeuter Coalition is a great group. There are many people who canno afford to spay and neuter their pets. SNC is making a tremendous difference in Georgia.

  104. Barbara Haggard Says:

So many unwanted furbabies!! Stop the overpopulation by spaying/neutering so that we have a chance to help the rest! Thank You (and Santa, too!)

  105. Liz Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition has a mission of implementing more spay/neuter via education, marketing and outreach. They also promote the many low cost options already available in Georgia.

Even though I live in NY, both my dogs came from Georgia rescue groups…the shelters down there are overcrowded all because of irresponsible owners. I hope the Spay/Neuter Coalition are able to get information on Spay/to the people of Georgia because knowledge is contagious. Spay/Neuter info being shared in one part of the US can spread to others. Pass it on!

  106. BoneYardDog Says:

If everyone that voted would donate 10 bucks, it would make a huge difference and everyone would be a winner.

  107. trexie Says:

    I vote for spay/neuter coalition!

  108. Margot Says:

Spay Neuter has the right idea to help low income people who love their pets get them spayed and neutered to avoid making more unwanted animals. They are a great group to work with and i have seem their volunteers go the extra mile to help turn the tide of animals euthanized in the local shelters.
    Please support this wonderful organization!

  109. Kimberly Davis-Chambers Says:

    I vote for spay/neuter coalition.

  110. deboarh Says:

    yeah georgia

  111. Richard Templeton Says:

    I voted for SPAY/NEUTER Coalition..

  112. Glenda Says:

I wish they could all win and share the money…they are all great folks doing wonderful and difficult work. Thank you to all animal welfare groups.

  113. Kim Fortenberry Says:

    I vote for Spay/Neuter Coalitin

  114. Preston Says:

Good luck to everyone but, I vote for Spay/Neuter Coalition

  115. JoAnne Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition helps try to control so many pets born to be left alone wandering in Georgia. I have several pets from Mostly Mutts and we all believe in taking care of our animals and spay/neuter coalition certainly helps.

  116. Mitch Westerly Says:

The fix is in apparently. Thanks.

  117. Anonymous Says:

    Scoops

Can you elaborate on how Barrio went from 51-47% overnight to losing by 300 or so votes the next morning?

did you randomly take votes away from Barrio or add Pro Bone-O’s votes to S/N? Both great organizations but I got a lot of my friends involved in Barrio’s cause and to have a slide of approximately 900 votes (according to the percentages) overnight seems a bit impossible without some “assistance” no?

Would appreciate any feedback if I should bother to keep voting every day or is there really no point?

  118. Mary Helen Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition – help control the number of pets that are lost in the “system”.

  119. Jackie Masopust Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition has my vote! They help keep the stray animal population down.

  120. Jackie Masopust Says:

Spay/Neuter Coalition has my vote! They help keep the stray animal population down.

  121. Jackie Masopust Says:

  122. GS Balboa Says:

Barrio Dogs 4 sure!!! Great job they’re doing to help the strays in Houston! Keep up the awesome work you guys do!!!

  123. Scoops Ricardo Says:

    Anonymous lady. Or guy.,

I cannot elaborate. Because I do not know the answer. I am in bed at night. I do not check my Christmas Campaign 2011 Voting until morning. Before I go to work. However, I think mayhaps the chairs turned. Once I stopped Automatic Voting Software from working. As much as it was. Because that is not fair. To the voters who use their fingers. 134975204837520 times each day.

Oh and also. I did not take votes away from anyone. I would not do that, lady. Or guy. I also did not give votes to anyone. I would not do that either, lady. Or guy.

I am not hoping that one organization wins over the other. I am neutral. Both are fantabulous. Both deserve to win. Both deserve my goal of $2,000.

    That is all.

  124. Anon Says:

    Yep, something is definitely afoul.

Undeniable. You dont lose hundreds of votes in the dead of nite.

  125. St Bernard Fan Says:

Both are very deserving and obviously have the support of many people.
Split the money evenly between both fine groups.
This will help animals in 2 different areas.
    It’s a clear win/win.

  126. Anonymous Says:

Thanks Scoops. Some trickeration occured…900 votes in a matter from 12 PM to 9 am is not feasible if people are voting square. But thanks for the contest – it was fun while it lasted on the level.

    Good luck to whomever wins.

  127. Trish Says:

SHAME on anyone that would cheat and keep any worthy organization from winning fair and square. I also am saddened at anyone that would point fingers at this point and call either group names. So, let’s keep the Christmas Campaign 2011 going in a positive direction and may the group with the fastest fingers and most voters win. I think any organization that works so hard as both of these do for the voiceless deserves a gift of giving! THANK YOU, Scoops Ricardo Wilson, for this awesome opportunity! Your kindness and generosity will help SO many in need!

  128. breezy forti Says:

I’m seeing some poor sports! As I’m seeing it I see people loving SNC because they r a wonderful organization. We’ve just got a lot of votes that’s cheating how? I honestly think that’s pretty ignorant to say only because the other organization fell behind. Kind of sad really. Both organizations r great. I just love SNC. :-)

  129. Anon Says:

Don’t get it twisted. Its blatantly obvious what happened. You don’t like hearing the truth, so you name call.

  130. Eileen Price Says:

All of these groups are wonderful. Rescue the ones that are already here! However, spay/neuter must be spread further than ever this coming year! At Wally’s Friends we say
“Saving Lives Thru Prevention”. We have altered almost 50,000 animals in five years and we are about to expand! We must stop shelter killing. Spay Neuter Educate!!!!

  131. Lisa Berrios Says:

I vote for the cause led by Celeste Hoff.

  132. Lisa Berrios Says:

I support the Spay Neuter Coalition in Woodstock.

  133. breezy forti Says:

Don’t get it twisted hmmm someone seems a little mad. Well oh well take it like a champ if get beat suck it up there will be more chances. Don’t act like a poor sport its not the truth so say what u will I’m done! GOOOOOO SPAY/NEUTER COALITION WOOHOO

  134. Dog Lover Says:

I think what anon is saying is that S/N overcame a 900+ vote deficit at night when Scoop has said he turned off this “cheating” softwware. I take that to mean that anon believes Barrio was using software to vote. If so, it would seem definite that S/N was also using software. How could both be so close in votes if not? You can’t beat out software that’s placing votes every few seconds without using software of your own.

So, I think he is saying that it seems very unlikely that S/N could overcome a 52-47 deficit to get to a 51-48 lead (over 900 votes, I believe) in the middle of the night without some kind of help.

I don’t know whether that is true or not, but that’s what I’m reading.

  135. Wait what? Says:

Wait did Mr Scoops ever explain the shifting of about 1000 votes overnight or was is he just sticking with “I don’t know”?

What a joke. Sorry to see one of these organizations get the shaft thanks to an unwinnable “contest” :(

  136. Dogsrule Says:

GROW UP PEOPLE!!! Remember we are doing this for the dogs! Stop the bullshit.

  137. what happened? Says:

pro bone o completely taken off list and barrio loses 900+ votes?

sorry, but something is not legit.

  138. Beefarino Says:

Agree with Dog Lover. Great effort by both sides regardless of what does seem like a strange occurrence in voting overnight. Saving dogs is the goal, probably need to keep things in perspective.

  139. booo Says:

I think it’s pretty obvious that both sides had/have some macro running to win this contest. What I think is a shame is that Pro-Bone-O was taken out of the voting in the end because they didn’t take the less-moral road. I know for a fact that there are people out there that felt bad for Pro-Bone-O losing an unfair contest and donated to them.

Were it my contest, I’d give them the money for not stuffing the ballot box.

For the record I’ve been voting Barrio as much as the site will let my fingers. I don’t see how anyone not affiliated with any of these sites in any way couldn’t chose Barrio.

  140. booo Says:

and scoops…you’ve got my email, feel free to use it to ask my IP adrress if you don’t believe I’m a Barrio backer making that suggestion.

  141. Almost Aunt Emily Says:

As Scoops kindly explained the jump in the votes happened because he turned off the automatic voting that individuals were using.
I’ve been recruiting and donating to Scoops Christmas Campaign since it’s started. I personally don’t appreciate the campaign being criticized as not “legit” or making an allusion to it being a rigged “contest.” Scoops and his parents (who are from PA) have no personal affiliation with the animal shelters (from Georgia, Texas, or Oregon). Scoops does this campaign from the kindness of his heart which is almost too big for his little body.

  142. Almost Aunt Emily Says:

Also, for the record, despite the fact that I was voting for the underdog (Pro-Bone-O) and that I also do not have any personal contact with the members of any of these shelters, I will still do my best to recruit friends, cards, and toys to send to Scoops. I would love to see his Campaign continue to grow and I want the shelter that wins to benefit from Scoops gift.
The campaign is for ONE shelter, and while only one will win, there is always next year. The campaign grows exponentially each year, so if you don’t win this time around suck it up and try again.
I hope that even if it’s not your preferred shelter that wins, you take a few moments out of your day to help Scoops make his campaign a success for the winner. Despite the current feud I hope all of you realize that the common cause is that we want to help these animals. You should all appreciate what each individual shelter is trying to do.
I understand there is competition, be respectful to the shelters and the wonderful dog and his family who have made this Campaign possible.

  143. Amanda Says:

I work with Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption in Kennesaw, GA and we are great supporters of The Spay/Neuter Coalition of Georgia and the awesome work they do. MM has been promoting The Spay/Neuter Coalition on our Facebook page urging our 4,000 plus fans to vote for S/N. I hope that all our loyal supporters are making the difference in helping Spay/Neuter Coalition receive this well deserved grant!!

To all our animal loving friends….
Please take the time to go to the following link and vote for the SpayNeuter Coalition of Georgia!! Mostly Mutts is a proud supporter of the outstanding work that they do: educating the public, providing low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, and much more…

You can vote as often as you like, it only takes two clicks of the mouse. You don’t have to register or provide any information!! So easy and could make the difference for SO many animals in the Metro Atlanta area.

    http://scoopsricardo.com/official-voting-begins-pick-your-topest-animal-organization/

Let’s show the power of OUR family of supporters!!!

VOTE FOR THE SPAY NEUTER COALITION OF GEORGIA!

  144. Leigh Anne Says:

unbelievable. I have a fb group of 131 people spread all over the united states and other countries who have been rallying for Spay/Neuter Coalition for the past 3 days. I have seen on my fb feed several rescues and doggy daycares rallying their fans several times a day for S/N. I personally don’t go to bed at 11 p.m. More Like 4:00 a.m. How would someone cheat? I don’t understand. I am sad that Barrio Dog fans are such poor sports and I hope the organization isn’t condoning this behavior. The percentage has jumped back and forth. I ‘liked’ the Barrio Dog page and the Pro Bono Page when this competition began because they both are great organizations and intend to make a donation to them. I just can’t believe adults are screaming “cheating” when their favorite organization falls behind. Grow up or take your marbles and go home. I would like someone to explain how you would cheat at voting. I think we all are voting multiple times a day. Is that what you consider cheating?

  145. trexie Says:

It’s unreal to come here to vote and see that people are being called cheaters just because the voting has changed in someone else’s favor for the moment! I think all groups that help animals are awesome! I allow local groups to post on my Facebook and send emails because I care and it helps get the word out for awareness, help and much needed support. I am supporting spay/neuter because or its importance and because they are a local group here in the Atlanta area. We are just stepping up the voting and telling everyone! I’m sure that is the reason and only reason the two groups are so close. Good luck to both awesome groups!

  146. Amanda Says:

I agree with Leigh Anne, it is sad that accusations are being made….

We are all ONE community with the same ideals and values.

Happy Holidays to all and keep on supporting your local animal rights organizations!!

  147. beer monkey Says:

Nice of scoops to run such a contest. Maybe our group can get a shot next year. All 3 from this year are worthy recipients. Support your local shelter/humane society.

  148. Dog Lover Says:

I have to laugh a little. The person running the contest TOLD US PEOPLE WERE CHEATING. At least, cheating according to his view as people were using software. He never said you weren’t allowed to do this, but it’s his prerogative to set that now as a rule (and I agree with him). Of course, the page also said you could only vote once per day but that obviously wasn’t the case technically and both groups caught on to that and exploited it.

Now, can you really blame someone for thinking things aren’t on the up and up when the Scoops told us people where bending the voting rules already?

I agree with people saying that no matter which group wins, it’s a good thing for animals. But the simple fact is that if you have a contest with 1 winner, people are going to get competitive. If he didn’t want that, he should have just picked 1 group himself.

  149. toomanypuppies Says:

I’d think everyone is “losing” the meaning of this contest. Mr. Scoops is KIND enough to accumulate a large amount of funds to donate to one of these fabulous groups. I cannot understand how any group would be upset with them. Remember, this is a gift from the heart, not the devil.

  150. Leigh Anne Says:

Me thinks Anonymous doth protest too much. S/N Coalition pulled ahead after automatic voting software was stopped. Go figure.

  151. toomanypuppies Says:

and unfortunately I think Pro Bone-o fell off the list because they fell under 1%. I certainly don’t think they intended this to take place. I’m sure they could have used the funds as well as any of the other groups. remember, wise people…all of these funds will go to a GREAT cause….any group that ends up with the dough, I’m sure will put it to good use.

  152. breezy forti Says:

Woohooo go SNC yes i agree since there is no automatic voting software being used we finally have a chance and r now in the lead. Cheaters never prosper!

  153. toomanypuppies Says:

everyone…JUST STOP! Mr. Scoops only wants to do good….please stop spreading EVIL. PLEASE. Enough already. Thinking Mr. Scoops needs to turn the blog section OFF.

  154. Kathy Taylor Says:

Vote for Barrio Dogs. They work hard for the low income areas of Houston. They work hard and deserve your vote.

  155. Anonymous Says:

Accusations of Barrio not playing fair yet posting on your facebook’s about how you can vote once every few minutes the very next day. so ironic

  156. Anon Says:

    What a rig job. :D

  157. Jillian Says:

“Anonymous” apparently doesn’t even have the guts to use their name. If Scoops was able to change the voting to keep the software from working, it makes perfect sense that they would fall so far behind. Look on facebook and see how many of us have been rallying for SNC since DAY ONE. I was faithfully voting once daily from my laptop and my phone, until it became obvious Barrio was voting multiple times daily (I hadn’t even tried to vote more than once). Yes, I’ve voted more than once since discovering you can. I will admit that. BUT–I wouldn’t have even tried if the other team had been playing fair. Guess what–you don’t play fair, you can’t go bitching when someone else doesn’t either. Hopefully, there will be a way next year to allow voting only once from each IP address. Thanks for doing this, Scoops. You are awesome. I’m sorry things have turned this way.

  158. Rachael Says:

It is very sad that my eleven year old who went on this site to vote came up to me and said ,” I don’t understand all the fighting. No matter what group wins the animals will be helped.” How is it that an eleven year old understands what this is really about, but yet grown adults can’t seem to get it. I am very disappointed in some of the posts above. Toomanypuppies said it best..Mr.Scoops only wants to do good. As animal lovers that should be all we want as well, no matter what group wins!

  159. Cam Newton Says:

Scoops and Jillian are probably better at dogs than they are at English.

  160. Anne Says:

Please just vote for who you support and don’t make this so ugly that the benefactor removes support from any of you!!!
I am supporting Spay/Neuter because my dog comes from Georgia, from a very overcrowded shelter, and was lucky to get out. There are many rescue angels there, but the tide of unwanted dogs is overwhelming and they need to have the means to educate people in the rural south especially about the importance of this issue. Go Spay/Neuter!!!

  161. BoneYardDog Says:

I have already made a donation to Pro-Bone-O and will do the same for the other organization that does not win.

For the supporters of winner I challenge you to donate a few dollars to the other two organizations.

I believe that if you are reading this then you really do care about the animals and there will be no “losers” if this is true.

  162. Leigh Anne Says:

I don’t think Barrio Dogs did anything underhanded. This does not reflect badly on Scoops or the 3 fantastic organizations that were in the contest. All 3 organizations had the same opportunity to vote multiple times. Nothing unfair about that. The only one looking bad in all this is the anonymous troll. Please don’t feed the troll.

  163. Lucy Says:

I love that education is important to Barrio Dogs and they truly care.

  164. Meg Says:

I voted for S/N. Because I live in Atlanta. We all want “our” cause to get money, but have we considered where it is coming from? Please donate to either Scoops, Barrio, Pro bone oh, Spay Neuter or to all. And I hope everyone posting on here has spayed or neutered their animals! Thank you Scoops.

  165. breezy forti Says:

Scoops u r doing an amazing thing. Please don’t let someone like anonymous sore loser self ruin it from u doing this ever again. U r doing it for a great cause and may god bless u! Again i think I speak for everyone when i say thank u for being so kind for doing such a great thing to help the kind hearted ppl who own and run these organizations! Well everyone who appreciates the wonderful thing u are doing! Have a very merry Christmas and god bless.

  166. Dina Says:

S/N is the only way to keep the shelters empty and stop the unnecessary daily murder sprees.

  167. Fran Rowden Hynes Says:

This is a “no brainer” I have spayed every dog I’ve ever owned and I’m proud of it. Support this cause!

  168. Tisha Riggins Says:

I think u rock. I am from GA and want our cause out these and for people to spay/neuter as that will hugely help curbe pet over-population. Ty for all you do. Knowledge is power and many do not realize/know how significant spay/neuter is so spreading knowledge is awesome. Knowledge is powerful.

  169. Jo Burchfield Says:

Scoops’ Christmas Campaign is wonderful and he’s doing averything he can to help the animals. I support Scoops 100% I have asked all of my friends to vote for SNC because I deeply believe there aren’t enough good homes for the animals and the killing has to stop.

If some have been cheating, well shame on them, even if they thought they were helping. Cheating is wrong.

  170. Sheree Says:

Thank You Scoops for all that you do to help the Animals! People should truly be ashamed of themselves for how they have acted/reacted!!

  171. Sheree Says:

Thank You Scoops for all that you do to help the Animals! People should truly be ashamed of themselves for how they have acted/reacted!!
    Ps. Go SNC
Ga is doomed without the Education , And Spay/Neutering that SNC offers!

  172. Trish Cormier Says:

So, I see that even the Spay & Neuter people on here are admitting that they are voting more than once every day and it is obviously still happening and capable of being done. Unfortunately, this is a contest that has a few flaws and since that has been pointed out, mayhaps you should reconsider how you are giving out your wonderful Christmas Campaign 2011 funds. I truly feel bad for those who have chosen to take a negative route towards any group that was chosen to participate~~~you truly took the fun out of the meaning here and should really take a look at what EVERYONE in rescue is striving to accomplish. Thank you Scoops for choosing Barrio Dogs as one of the three groups to be included this year~~~we truly appreciate your kind gesture in wanting to spend your dad’s money and make a difference in the life of the voiceless, homeless, abused animals~~~THAT’S WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT! Happy Holidays!

  173. Jo Burchfield Says:

Friends, let’s not forget that whomever was using the voting software may have done so without the knowledge of the organization. A zealous fan, thinking he/she was really helping. All the organization are worthy groups, dedicated to thelp the animals.

  174. Gail Says:

I hate drama as much as the next person, but I have to admit that it is kinda cool in a way to see so many people that are so passionate about helping animals that they are getting so worked up. Not to say that it is good to verbally lash out at each other by any means, but I do appreciate that people are so concerned about animal welfare. It’s too bad though because we should be getting upset with the different issues we are trying to counteract, not at each other. After all, we are all working towards the same goal of promoting animal welfare and alleviating the overpopulation problem! So lets work together to help these animals!!!!

  175. Scoops' Mom Says:

Hi everyone! Scoops’ mom here! First and foremost, I just want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone that has voted, spread the word of Scoops’ campaign and how involved everyone is to help animals that are less fortunate than Scoops and the rest of our furry kids.

I hope to try and put some of the controversy to rest over the voting thing. Scoops doesn’t explain things very well in his little language so hopefully I can.

This is what happened: We noticed that automatic voting softwares were being used to cast votes. And it was not just a few votes here and there, it was hundreds and hundreds at a time. This was not fair to the other organizations that were spreading the word via Facebook, Twitter, e-mails, etc and having their family, friends, volunteers, co-workers and anyone they could think of to cast votes the legit way.

We found a way to diminish the ability for these softwares to work – I don’t think there is a way to get them to stop working completely. But the fix we have in place diminishes their ability to work across the board – not just for one group of people (or one organization).

The problem was not that people were voting more than once per day. The problem is that the votes were not being done by actual people – the votes were from a software.

All of the organizations have done a fantastic job of spreading the word. Some have even got other non-profits on their side to spread the word as well. That makes for double the exposure, double the votes.

Myself, Scoops and Scoops’ dad have no affiliation with any of the groups that were chosen. Scoops asked his friends on Facebook what their favorite organizations were and these three groups seemed to be the most popular, which is why they were entered into the competition. We have not cast any votes for any of the organizations – we simply monitor the votes and allow Scoops to keep you all updated on the progress via Facebook. We are 150% neutral, as is Scoops.

I understand that with any contests, there will be some hardcore competitors, and that is fine. That’s what makes competition fun…sometimes. But when it has gotten to this point where people are angry and feel cheated or defeated, it is no longer fun times, as Scoops would say.

We simply wanted to ensure that the contest was as fair as possible. The automatic votes were not fair to be used from any organization.

This was the first year that there was voting involved and we realize now that changes will need to be made for next year so that we do not have these issues again.

Now, I hope that clears everything up! Let’s all remember that this is not about which organization is better than the next or which one does better work than the other. All of these organizations are so worthy of any donation, any exposure and any advertising that they can get. That is and always will be our #1 goal with Scoops’ Christmas Campaigns.

There’s less than 12 hours left to vote. Let’s put on our big girl panties, stop the bickering and get back to voting for your favorite to help them win!

  176. Scoops Fan Says:

    Thank you mom of Scoops.

Don’t let the few irrational people on either side of the debate here turn you off from these great organizations. I’m sure both org. would be disappointed with some of the comments and facebook accusations we’ve seen bandied about. And glad to know that it wasn’t one side or the other that may have been using software.

Good luck to Scoops and both org in the future :)

  177. Donna Varriale Says:

    Snip them, save a life.

  178. Beefarino Says:

It’s probably not prudent to change how a contest operates 48 hours before the contest closes. It is your contest though, so there really isn’t anything left to say but thanks for doing this. Some needy animals will appreciate the lift!

  179. Wendy Schweigel Says:

voted hope i did it right for spay /neuter coalition.

  180. Debbie Says:

They’re all great but had to vote for one :)

  181. toomanypuppies Says:

totally agree Debbie…totally agree. If you go to all their websites, they all do AWESOME work. Too bad money doesn’t grow on trees.

  182. Robin Houck Says:

spay and neuter rocks! There are sooo many sweet animals put down every year because of population problems… keep up the voting folks!

  183. I Says:

Lets face it, all of these deserve much more than the money they’re going to get, so we just have to wish the best of luck to them all!

  184. Jan Says:

I have personally worked along side Lesha Martin and her Spay/Neuter Coaliton as she has done things like going door to door in an extremely low income neighborhood getting a tally of all animals and their needs. She is a superhero in my opinion.

Many of us here voting do what we can for as many animals as we can but I know of no one who works as hard, as tirelessly, without pay or many times even any thanks to REALLY make a difference. Spay/Neuter Coalition is making a difference in my county where there is a euth rate of over 65%. I have no doubt that SNC with some financial assistance help reduce unwanted litters not only in our state but around the US.

  185. tara Says:

I’m proud to be associated with an organization like the Spay/ Neuter Coalition. All 5 of my cats are rescues and all 5 have been spayed or neutered even though they are indoor cats. Groups like this get to the basics of the problem of over population and do something about it.

  186. April Says:

It looks like Spay/Neuter supporters are dominating the comments! I hope the Spay/Neuter Coalition wins, there’s no telling how many unwanted pet pregnancies they’ve helped prevent. But I’m sure it’s in the thousands.

  187. breezy forti Says:

Woohooo SNC wins!!!! I’m so glad cause lesha deserves every bit of it cause of her selfless actions! Yesssss this is awesome!!!

  188. Tracey Stephens Says:

My little pet grp page spread the word in Newspapers, facebook grps w/well over 4,000 ppl each, classifieds, rescue groups from all over the country (thank you Wally’s Friends-TN)and everywhere we could. I even sent the link to major news networks and radio stations to have them promote on their sites. So if SPAY/NEUTER CO took a lead here at the end, that’s about when we were all getting involved. Our group got a late start in the competition, so If S/N Co took off, I would like to think that the good ppl of GA that were just getting the news stepped up and voted. I think all 3 of the animal grps are GREAT and that’s all that matters. Because of this contest ppl now know Pro-Bone-O, Barrio and Spay/Neuter Co.
P.S. I’m retired military and had all my military and foriegn buddies voting from all over the world.

  189. LS Says:

    Congratulations, SNC!

  190. Terri Says:

    My Vote for Barrio Dogs
I really liked what Trish (comment #67 said) and that a friend that is working hard in the Houston area for the animals safe and loving welfare is requesting her friends to get involved in this contest to continue that effort<3
What can that bring about but more loving kindness to these creatures that need our care that really give so much to us!
